What is Water Kefir?
Water kefir is a natural, fermented beverage made from water, sugar, fruits, and so-called kefir grains. These grains contain lactic acid bacteria and yeasts, which convert sugar into carbonic acid, organic acids, and small amounts of alcohol during fermentation.
The result is a refreshing, slightly sparkling drink that serves as a healthy alternative to soft drinks and is perfect for homemade fermented beverages.
How does fermentation work?
During fermentation, the microorganisms in your kefir or water kefir grains multiply and convert sugar into carbonic acid and natural flavors. With our stainless steel kefir lid, this process is particularly clean and hygienic: it ensures optimal ventilation, keeps small insects away, and is easy to wash afterwards.
Fermentation produces valuable lactic acid bacteria, which not only make your drink taste interesting but can also support your digestion. Additionally, you can get creative when preparing water kefir and try out different fruits, herbs, and spices.
