What is a Turmeric Bug?
The Turmeric Bug is a fermented starter based on water, turmeric, sugar, and optionally ginger. It provides live microorganisms that naturally ferment your soda – without artificial additives.

Recipe: Probiotic Basil Turmeric Soda
Preparation for your drink
For this recipe, you will need active Turmeric Bug. Please allow some preparation time and start your Turmeric Bug at least 5-7 days before preparing the drink. We show you how to do this in our guide on how to start a Turmeric Bug.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp Turmeric Bug (active & bubbly)
- 100 ml water
- 1 tsp lime juice
- Fresh basil leaves
- optional: ½ tsp honey or agave syrup
Preparation of the drink
(2nd fermentation)
- Mix in a glass:
- 4 tbsp Turmeric Bug
- 100 ml chilled mineral water
- 1 tsp lime juice
- Fresh basil leaves
- Serve immediately on decorative ice
- Optional: Garnish with fermented lemon slices, ginger or turmeric
